The Asian Hornet (Vespa velutina nigrithorax) is a predatory non-native invasive species of hornet. Since accidental importation into the South of France in 2014 it has spread rapidly through France and parts of Europe, including the Channel Islands. The Asian Hornet is a significant predator of honeybees: beekeepers and the public are urged to keep a lookout for this insect.
